Chinese Ports - Beijing Olympics 2008

Special arrangements apply at certain Chinese ports in preparation for and for the duration of the Beijing Olympics 2008. Requirements include:

  • Provisions relating to the carriage and handling of hazardous cargo apply at Shanghai, Ningbo, Qingdao, Dalian, Xingan/Tianjin. Certain cargo types will not be handled and others will be restricted.
  • Increased security levels are anticipated at Qingdao and heigtened security supervision at other ports including: At Guangzhou an increase in the number of PSC inspections is expected and these will be more rigorous. For landing applications at Tianjin both a seaman's certificate and passport must be submitted in advance.
  • Special arrangements will apply at Qingdao in connection with the Sailboat Games
