(External) Risks in Carriage of Food Cargoes
A wide range of food cargoes are transported every year, mostly without any difficulties. However, when problems are caused by the failure or non application of management systems, these can result not only in financial losses but there can also be risks to food safety and associated public health issues. In an illustrated paper by David Walker of CWA the risks involved and the precautions that can be taken to prevent or minimise them are explained.

(External) California Shoreline Protection Regulations
On 17 July 2006 OSPR issued new shoreline protection requirements which call for increased performance and response times in order to further protect California’s shoreline and sensitive site areas.These changes came into effect for high volue ports on 1 May 2007 and for low volume ports on 1 September 2007. The implications for tank and non-tank vessels at the various ports are explained in this article.
