No matter how much attention is given to conventional risk management and loss prevention, incidents giving rise to P& I claims are still likely to occur, if only from the effect of human error. When such incidents arise, the manner in which investigations and claims are handled can have a substantial impact upon their ultimate cost. Effective casualty investigation and claims handling is crucial to minimising the financial exposure of the Members and the Club. It requires coordinated action from all concerned - the vessel's Master and crew, the Member, the Club, correspondents, lawyers and experts. It is a team effort.
This innovative Guide, intended for use both ashore and onboard Members' vessels, contains an overview of the general claims handling requirements that are applicable to P&I incidents, and a more detailed review of the essential measures necessary to handle claims falling within the categories most frequently encountered by the Club. In addition, this DVD contains a wealth of reference documents regularly used in claims handling, as well as the current version of the Club's Rules, a database of Club and Correspondent contacts, and useful web-links.
Since it was first produced in 2004, "A Team Effort" has been revised annually and the 2010/2011 edition contains extensive improvements. The video section has been completely re-filmed on location in Hamburg, Monaco and London, and in addition to the existing English, Chinese and Spanish versions, two new languages have been incorporated - Korean and Russian.
This trailer provides a brief introduction to the new video and the full version will be streamed on the web-site in the near future when the 2010/2011 version of the DVD has been released. As in the past, the production of "A Team Effort" was funded by The Ship Safety Trust.
