Mississippi River - Deepwater Horizon Incident - Precautionary Measures

As a result of the oil spill from the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico the U.S. Coast Guard have issued a marine Safety Bulletin implementing a cleaning regime in the event that vessels may be affected by oil from the spill. Two vessel decontamination centres have been established to deal with vessels that may need cleaning prior to transiting the Lower Mississippi River.
