David Christie to become partner at Steamship Mutual

The Club has issued the following Press Release:

Steamship Mutual, the leading P&I Club, today announces that David Christie will become a partner of its management company, Steamship Insurance Management, with effect from 20^th August 2008. Mr. Christie, who will continue in his current role as Head of Claims for the Club’s Eastern syndicate, joins the partnership having worked at Steamship Mutual for over 25 years.

Despite an increasingly difficult claims environment in the P&I market, Steamship Mutual recently posted record financial results achieving an overall operating surplus of USD27.6 million and the Club’s free reserves increasing by 17.5% to their highest ever level, at USD185.8 million. The Club’s success stems from its robust and disciplined attitude to underwriting combined with prudent financial management and effective loss prevention policies.
