Cover of vessels and respective disputes is defined by rules determined by the Clubs' Board of Directors. Rules are prepared for each Club, namely Steamship Bermuda and Steamship London. For convenience, the text of the rules referred to below is taken from the rules of Steamship Bermuda. The rules for both Clubs, together with the map showing Correspondent locations, are also available in pdf format and can be downloaded below. Hard copies of the Rulebooks containing the rules for both Steamship Bermuda and Steamship London are available on application.
The categories of cover are specified as:-
- Class I - Protection and Indemnity
- Class II - Freight Demurrage and Defence
Additionally, recommended clauses to be contained in various shipping documents are provided herein.
Every care has been taken to ensure that the rules have been reproduced accurately on the website. However, in the event of any inconsistency between the text shown on the website and the text as printed in the rule book, the printed text shall prevail.
As approved by the Directors and the Members of the Club in General Meeting, the Rules changes, concerning the effect of sanctions and the impact on Club cover, which are set out in the table below, will come into effect from midnight on 27 August 2010. These Rules changes have been approved by each Club, namely Steamship Bermuda and Steamship London. For convenience, the text of the rules referred to below is taken from the rules of Steamship Bermuda.
